Program Structure

  • There are five sessions held between March and September (six months).
  • Each session lasts two days and takes place on a Friday and Saturday.
  • Both days begin at 8:00 a.m. Friday ends at 5:30 p.m. and Saturday ends at 2:30 p.m.
  • There are seven weeks between sessions.
  • All sessions are held at SmithBucklin's Chicago offices (330 N. Wabash Avenue) within the company's conference facilities.

Content: Based on The Givray Leadership Framework.

Context: All types of organizations including corporations, associations, government institutes and other non-profit institutions.

Instructional Design: Active facilitation, reading and book reviews, lecturettes, homework assignments, speakers, case studies, activities and exercises in order to provoke, stimulate, provide context, illuminate ideas and create the environment for individual learning, self-discovery and personal growth via dialogue, sharing, deliberation, debate and mutual problem solving.

Facilitators: Henry Givray serves as lead-facilitator. Chris Peck, a SmithBucklin senior executive and class graduate of the SmithBucklin Leadership Learning Forum (see "Background") serves as co-facilitator.

Class Size: 16 to 18 individuals.

Class Composition: Individuals who serve on the boards of SmithBucklin client organizations.

Homework: Students can expect to spend 20-30 hours during the seven weeks between sessions on reading, doing homework and preparing for the next session.
